Mangroves are tropical plants, killed by freezing temperatures. The Florida mangroves ecoregion includes three mangrove species: Red Mangrove (Rhizophora mangle), as shown in the picture, Black Mangrove (Avicennia germinans), White Mangrove (Laguncularia racemosa) All three mangrove species flower in the spring and early summer.
